Task 3a
Materials and tools for a working group:
2 pendulums with different string lengths
The goal of the task is to determine whether the pendulum oscillation rate depends on the length of the pendulum string. Pupils consider the following predictions:
- I think, the swing of both pendulums will have the same rate
- I think, the swing of pendulum will be faster if the string is longer.
- I think, the swing of pendulum will be faster if the string is shorter
They accomplish a verification of predictions, record the results in a diagram and evaluate the research question by reference to the data obtained. When creating a diagram, the teacher helps them understand how numbers are transferred to the graphical display. Pupils color a part of the column according obtained data.
